A Unified Performance Analysis of the Family of Normalized Least Mean Algorithms

چکیده
This work presents a unified performance analysis of the family of normalized least mean (NLM) algorithms under veryweak assumptions. The key feature of the analysis is based on a recently proposed performance measure called effectiveweight deviation vector. The name is so given as it is the only component that contributes to the excess estimation error of the adaptive filter. Using this novel concept, both the steady-state analysis and the tracking analysis are presented with a unified framework for the whole family of the NLM algorithms. Thus, the derived results are valid for any normalized stochastic gradient algorithmminimizing 2pth power of the errorwhere p is an integer value. The novelty of the analysis resides in the fact that it does not impose restrictions on the dependence between input successive regressors, the dependence among input regressor elements, the length of the adaptive filter, the distribution of noise, and filter’s input. Moreover, this approach is not limited to only small step-size value, and therefore, the analysis is valid for all the values of the step size in the stable range of the NLM algorithms. Furthermore, in this analysis, both stationary and non-stationary input signal and plant scenarios are considered. Consequently, asymptotic time-averaged convergence for the mean-squared effective weight deviation, mean absolute excess estimation error, M. Finally, a number of simulation results are carried out to corroborate the theoretical findings.

This paper presents a new variable step-size normalized subband adaptive filter (VSS-NSAF) algorithm. The proposed algorithm uses the prior knowledge of the system impulse response statistics and the optimal step-size vector is obtained by minimizing the mean-square deviation(MSD). In comparison with NSAF, the VSS-NSAF algorithm has faster convergence speed and lower MSD. To reduce the computa...

Employing a recently introduced unified adaptive filter theory, we show how the performance of a large number of important adaptive filter algorithms can be predicted within a general framework in nonstationary environment. This approach is based on energy conservation arguments and does not need to assume a Gaussian or white distribution for the regressors. This general performance analysis ca...
متن کاملSpoofing Mitigation of GPS Receiver using Least Mean Squares-Based Adaptive Filter
The Global Positioning System (GPS) signals are very weak signal over wireless channels, so they are vulnerable to in-band interferences. Therefore, even a low-power interference can easily spoof GPS receivers. Among the variety of GPS signal interference, spoofing is considered as the most dangerous intentional interference. The spoofing effects can mitigate with an appropriate strategy in the...
